I booked this cruise for a quick trip with my 14 year old son as a getaway for mid winter break. I carefully researched it and found that the price was right and the ship looked amazing. The oasis of the seas was out of my price range and ive sailed with RCCL 7 or 8 times on various ships and found them all to be in the good range. Im not going to go on and on about this cruise because id rather put it behind me in the sense of letting it go as a live and learn that bigger is not better in many cases and this is one.
Embarkation took 2 hours. Waited on one line after another to embark. Many lines were just for a photo when you got there. Another line they made you get on before you boarded was to get you to buy a welcome drink. We arrived at 1:30 and didnt get on and in our cabin till around 3:30 The cabin was overlooking the promenade on deck 6 midship. One of the smallest cabins ive ever seen on any ship. Could of been better arranged, you couldnt get around the beds because they would block you from getting to the sitting area where there was a view of the promenade and you can see parades and people walking around. It was however soundproof thankfully and the noise was little if any after calling security a few times about kids running and screaming in a cabin a few doors down and in the hall.
Shows were first rate. I saw most of the bigger productions. Ice show is not to be missed but you need to get tickets in advance because there are not enough seats for everyone. Most shows id advise showing up 15 minutes early if there are 2 of you. 1/2 hour if there are more or you wont get a seat for any show! Stage sets and singers/ dancers/ comedian/ illusionist all fantastic. Highlight of the cruise by all means.
Cabins very small, but comfy. Dont book more then 2 people for one inside cabin. Beds have temperpedic overlay and are very comfortable.
