We are a couple in our mid- 50s. We enjoyed our Norwegian Breakaway cruise, and would travel with them again.

Embarkation was stress free. Weather was cold ( not totally unexpected!) - it was the last Baltic cruise of the season. Our tour guide in Russia said that the weather was unseasonably cold, and that she was wearing her winter jacket 2 months earlier than usual.

The weather caused issues - 3 out of 5 ports were missed due to bad weather. Warnemunde was cancelled - we docked in Copenhagen overnight. Norwegian didn’t inform us prior to boarding, but our external tour operator SBP Tours knew, and had informed us the the day before boarding!

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BC

Forward cabin, long distance from the elevators - very quiet as little passing traffic. Never heard our neighbours. Cabin itself didn't have any creaks or squeaks when ship was in motion. Standard size cabin. Small balcony. Nicely furnished with no signs of wear or tear. Room for suitcases under the bed. Just enough wardrobe and drawer space for 2 - We travel with one suitcase each.

Bathroom was functional, with a more spacious shower than some ships. Bathroom toiletries were minimal - no shower cap. cheap body lotion. Shower gel OK.

Loved the coffee/hot water machine, especially as room service and expresso style coffees cost extra.

We used the laundry service - prompt, with good results.

Our steward, Ace, was helpful, flexible, and kept things immaculate.

Port Reviews

Copenhagen

We arrived a day before the cruise. Train from Airport , then 8 min walk to hotel. Spent evening and next morning walking around City.

Took a taxi to the cruise terminal - expensive.

St. Petersburg

Took SBP's 2 day Deluxe Tour. Great value. Saw all the sights - very rushed as a lot to fit in. Booked to get off the ship early - disembarked and through Customs by 09.45.

Tallinn

Easy 15 - 20 minute walk from Cruise Terminal to the Old Town. Visited the Maiden Tower ( Neitsitorn) Museum, which included a walk on the city walls, and a Tower filled with medieval artefacts, armour, weaponry, and videos about history of Estonia. The Danish Kings Garden is next door, with sinister statues of 3 monks. The old Town has cobbled streets - wear sensible shoes.
