We have sailed with Celebrity about 17 times. We've also sailed with Princess, Royal Caribbean, and other lines, but Celebrity has been our favorite.
The public rooms are spotless and beautiful. The Ocean Grill had many options and much variety, which we enjoyed. The Opus Dining Room served good food as well, although the last evening the service was exceptionally slow and we didn't finish our meal until 10:15 PM, which was too late. We will not get the late seating again. We enjoyed the music, entertainment, and ports. Celebrity really takes care of its guests. Returning from the ports, weary guests were greeted by employees handing out cucumber water and cold towels. Embarkation and debarkation were a breeze, and the final transfer on the bus to Rome made our lives so much easier than getting a taxi and hauling our luggage to the train to the airport in Rome.
Things have certainly changed since our earlier cruises on Celebrity, where the dining room served the many courses separately (salads, soups, entrees, etc). We used to get a beautifully illustrated, large parchment menu listing the choices. Formal night was truly formal. Now there is only one formal night and the dress ranged from evening gowns and tuxedos to couples wearing jeans. The dress code should really be enforced or formal night should just be eliminated. The selection of tv channels was very poor; that is one improvement Celebrity should make. The meals were good, but absolutely no comparison to the meals under Chef Michel Roux. Those were outstanding, memorable meals and exquisite desserts.
Very comfortable bed and very clean room. Our stateroom attendant, Eric, did an excellent job.
