This past week was the worst vacation I have ever had. I would have rather been working. I have been on previous carnival cruises however I will no longer be using them. Our 7 day trip to the Caribbean changed into a nightmare where I was counting down the days until I could go home. 1.) The Cruise Director Emma- she was extremely rude to the guests and knew her remarks sounded bad and blamed it on her being “British” like that excused her behavior. 2.) Our room was extremely hot and we were next to the electrical room. We contacted the desk about it and they sent a maintenance tech to our room and they explained that they found a legally acceptable range between 74-77 degrees, that sounds great for sleeping in a room with no windows or ventilation. Even though there is a thermostat for us to change the setting? Also because we were next to the electrical room, we heard banging and tools dropping at all hours of the night (11pm, 3am, 6 am) so much for being on vacation 3.) The service- our schedule got changed due to hurricane Michael. It’s understandable, but on the second day they completely removed Roatan (the whole reason for our trip) and when told about reimbursement we received the port fees back..... $15.81. WOW that helps when we spent serval thousand dollars to go. Also the staff spoke to us like children and we felt like sheep being hurded around. Lastly while dining in the main dining room my husband noticed black marks on my arm. After inspecting where it had come from we noticed the tables had been recently painted. My concerns seemed to be downplayed as the waitstaff assured me it could easily be removed. I then showed them that even scrubbing with an alcohol based cleaner and a rag would not remove it they again disregarded me and the issue seemed to be ignored as they continued with work. They did not offer assistance they did not get me anything to remove it with and so you are aware this wasn’t water soluble paint it was latex or oil based paint which took a lot of hand sanitizer and elbow grease to remove. Later in the evening when discussing it with my husband multiple other guest over heard our conversation and said the same thing happened to them and even ruined there clothes. 4.) EVERYTHING was unorganized, the best example was disembarkment day. We were supposed to leave at 8am which turned into 11am and while standing in a huge line to get out (like cows) all the lights in the ship went out (including the elevators that people were on). Standing in a crowded room, in the dark with a bunch of strangers does not feel comforting or safe.

These are the largest concerns that happened on my trip, however some smaller ones include: taking two hours to get dinner (we decided to order everything at the beginning of the meal to ensure we received it in time), the staff seemed bothered/not a lot of smiles, which made me feel bad to ask for anything. The entire trip felt like carnival was trying to get every last penny out of you, exploiting every last avenue for money to the point that we didn’t want to interact with anyone or go to any event to avoid getting badgered for more money.

In conclusion we were extremely disappointed. As stated before this was not my first trip with carnival but it will most certainly be my last. Being in the service industry most of my concerns could have avoided or at least managed with a little reassurance and assistance. However I will be giving my money to another line that might actually appreciate that I am choosing to give my hard earned money to them.

Cabin Review

Interior

Cabin 4B

It’s a basic cabin, it’s what I get every time, I am only in my room to shower and sleep. The decor is outdated, all other items in the room are nessecity not luxury.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

We had the most fun in Cozumel. Being a cruisers the most common is Cozumel so we know the best places to snorkel and hang by the beach. Carnival offers excursions at twice the price...

Belize City

A lot of shopping, the beach out in the ocean is gorgeous but in the city it is worse and more brown than Texas beaches.
