This was our first cruise experience, and Celebrity did not disappoint. We arrived in Rome 5 days before sail date and explored all the city has to offer. We were travelling with friends and shared a private car (Blacklane) to the embarkation port, arriving around noon. Embarkation went very, very smoothly - barely took 15 minutes to get through the line, get our Sea Pass and board the ship! We went to the Ocean View Café to have lunch until our room was ready. We had booked a room with a balcony, on deck 7. The room was clean, comfortable and efficient - the only downside was its proximity to the elevators, which meant we could hear a very muted "ding" whenever the elevator arrived. If I remember correctly, our luggage arrived before the muster drill; we were happy to unpack and organize all our clothes and there was plenty of room, between the closet, storage above the bed and 3 drawers below the tv. We asked for and received extra hangers. The ship is absolutely beautiful; hard to remember you're actually on a ship when you are strolling through the main areas! There is something for everyone ... louder bars, quieter bars, little nooks and crannies to sit and read in, a library, etc. The food in the cafeteria was quite good, many temptations but also many healthy choices. The food in the dining room was ok but not spectacular, and sometimes too salty. We were not overly impressed with the food in the Tuscan Grill, though our friends had a good experience there on a previous cruise. We were however quite impressed with the food at the Lawn Club, and also had an excellent meal at Murano's. It's possible that our impression of the food was tainted by an overall negative experience relating to food service. In virtually every venue from the cafeteria to Murano's and everything in between, we were consistently interrupted by wait staff who did not pause or say "excuse me" whenever they approached our table. We were even interrupted in the middle of a birthday toast! By the 3rd of 4th time my husband started pointing this out to wait staff, but as you have someone different every time, this did nothing to improve our experience. In retrospect, we should have gone to Guest Services with our complaint. This is clearly a flaw in Celebrity's training curriculum, and put a damper on an otherwise excellent experience. In addition to a smooth embarkation on day 1, getting on and off the ship at ports of call also went very smoothly, and disembarkation was just as smooth. Celebrity clearly has this down to a science. Can't comment on the entertainment as we didn't go to any of the shows (we're not show people), but the musicians in the lobby area on the various nights were good, and the 5-person jazz band in the bar just outside Michael's Club was quite good. Our favorite spot on the ship was the Sunset Bar on deck 15 - an ideal spot to be in when the ship leaves port. We found service there to be quite excellent and really liked being outside. What surprised us the most was the demographics on the ship - we are in the 50-60 age range and expected, from what we'd heard, that most guests would be in this demographic as well. My perception is that the majority were in the 65-80 age range and we saw very few guests younger than us. Overall, this was an excellent experience and I would have given it a 4.75 rating if that was possible. The only reason I did not give it a 5 is the irritation of the interrupting wait staff.

*Almost* perfect cruise
