I took the Star Princess earlier this year for a 15-day cruise to Hawaii, so when the opportunity came up to take it again for a shorter cruise to Cabo, I didn't hesitate. I knew the ship very well and since I was travelling with someone who had never been on a cruise before, I thought it would be a safe choice.

Unfortunately, shortly after leaving Los Angeles the A/C broke. It wasn't an issue until we reached Mexico and then it became very, very bad. Luckily, we had a balcony so we were able to stay out there most of the time and cool off. However, others with interior cabins weren't so lucky. The elevators and many other interior rooms felt like an oven, very uncomfortable. There was no communication or admission by the ship staff that there was a problem. However, I did notice a $50 credit on my statement under the title of "Goodwill", so I guess that was their compensation for our troubles.

I realize that things break on a ship, but I would have appreciated a widespread communication from the staff. That would have gone a long way in this situation.

The cabin was always very clean, but it needs updating (redecoration).
