This was our tenth cruise with Royal Caribbean and second time on Independence. It's a lovely ship with wonderful staff. We enjoyed our cruise but did feel it's going down the Butlins at sea route!

The food in the windjammer (we always found a seat with no problem!)was very good but the main dining room food was definitely poorer than previous years. We ate in all the speciality dining options, the food & service in all of them was excellent. We always found a sunbed mainly on deck 12 where it was nice & quiet!

Our favourite bar on the ship was the Viking Crown with lovely staff especially Kirk & Dina. We also watched lots of dolphins from here.

Port Reviews

Gibraltar

Been before so just walked into the centre & had coffee

Villefranche

Villefranche is beautiful. Caught the train into Monte Carlo

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Paid for the coach from the ship into Rome & did our own thing.

Toulon

Paid for boat transfer from ship into Toulon $18, but as it was Sunday nowhere was open apart from a street market.

Barcelona

Got the shuttle bus from the ship. Beautiful city. We found all the little back streets were lovely & away from the busy centre.

Lisbon

Love Lisbon, been before so we had a wander around & found a nice little bar/ restaurant & had lunch.

Vigo

Again we had a wander around Vigo. Very pretty Main Street.
