We booked a cruise from London to Iceland to visit the west coast of Ireland and NW Scotland in September 2018. What they DON'T tell you is that 7/10 destinations require tenders to get you ashore. That is impossible in the constant rough weather we experienced and we ended up going to Dublin,Belfast and Glasgow, where we got off the ship and came home.
Of course Silver Sea can't guarantee weather but the online web site and the details of the cruise offered should state where tenders are used to go ashore. If I had known that I would have realized the risk and not booked the cruise.
It is a shame because the itinerary sounded wonderful and the small ship, with only 220 passengers and 240 crew, sounded like just what we wanted. Leaving by passing under Tower Bridge was spectacular. The service was excellent. Crew were always friendly and in the restaurants always knew us by name. We had our own butler which sounded grand but we rarely needed his services. We were somewhat surprised to find that most passengers were like us, are in our mid seventies. It would have been nice to be with more younger people.
