We chose this cruise because of the pricing, because it was a large, new ship, and because of the ports of call. We had never been on a MSC cruise before, but knew from other reviews that the standards might not be up to those of the more typical cruises that we have been on. We have sailed on 23 cruises (Carnival, Norwegian, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Holland America, Cunard). We went into the cruise with no expectations.

Embarkation were very easy. The Seaview embarks and disembarks passengers in every port.

The biggest disappointment was the food. We are not fussy eaters. The breakfast buffet and dining room were adequate. There were 2 buffets to choose from. Generally we were able to find a seat. People of other cultures don't always understand how Americans do things and this leads to unhappy people. Generally there were no buffet lines. Everyone just reached in to get what they wanted. We did not eat lunch, but in the evening we were in the main dining room at early seating. Because there were 3 dinner seatings, after 1 and 1/2 hours they would turn the lights on and rush you out. The selection was not very good. There was very little beef and when there was, it was very tough, as was the veal. Appetizers and desserts were fine, but the main courses were poorly prepared and not up to the quality that we have had on every other ship. They wanted you to buy the specialty dining and/ or a steak at the main dining room for 18Euro.

Cabin Review

Bella Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B1

Our cabin ( a balcony) was fine, except for the closet design. Very little storage space and difficult to get into the closet because of the angle. The cabin steward, and wait staff were all excellent. The TV showed nothing but news in English. There were no other options except for pay for movies.

Port Reviews

Malta (Valletta)

We were on our own. We took a local bus to Mdina for 2 Euro. It was well worth it. Beautiful walled city. Ate at the Tea Garden restaurant with great views.
