Ruby Princess Cruise Review by Tjtraveler

Trip Details
  • Sail Date: Sep 2018
  • Destination: Pacific Coastal
  • Cabin Type: Balcony

Having done quite a few princess cruises, the Ruby is one of our favorite ships. The size is perfect; the large theatre can hold everyone if they do two shows ( which they typically do). The shows were spectacular-from the dancers and singer to the comedian and Magician. Amazing employees that act like they really like their jobs. The food was excellent in the dining room. We never felt rushed. There are spots all over the ship that you can be alone outside your cabin.

We love the grill topside. We run thru the buffet at lunch a load up greens; then have them grill a chicken breast for on top (resisting the fries of course).

International cafe was a little crowded this cruise ( I think it was because of their new coffee card system). There seemed to be a line often and I don’t do lines! Love love love this ship. We already have booked another in February.

Cabin Review

Balcony
Cabin BD C101

Showers can always be a bit larger; but comfortable; very quite. Up front under the crows nest. VERY comfy bed.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Seattle

Living in Oregon; we ride the train to Seattle; and it’s a 12 dollar uber ride to the port: getting us there by 1pm. We did go to the Bill Gates Foundation building Near the space needle, and it was amazing.

Astoria, Oregon

Great walking town with farmers market. Trolly, nautical museum, antique shopping.

Alcatraz

Much different than what we thought Alcatraz would look like. We got a wonderful tour riding over the Golden gate Bridge and were able to go to a viewpoint and our tour guide spoke to us about San Francisco and pointed out different features and history throughout the drive which took a couple of hours before we even got to our 11 o’clock departure on the ferry to the island

Monterey

The port is the near the very old Seaport area. They have a wonderful walking paths and through the older part of town they have a walking tour with medallions built into the sidewalks so you don’t get lost. We found it to be very friendly and we had drinks on the pier on the way back to the ship that were very good and reasonably priced.

Victoria

We have been to Victoria many times, we always catch the city bus which is only a few dollars to our destinations. You can get a day pass and jump on and off of it as many times as you want. To catch it it is only up the hill from the cruise ship and when you come to the very first Street the city bus stop is to your left. We enjoy going to Chinatown and we also enjoyed taking others to the legislature building for lunch
