We wanted Scandinavia but weather cancelled three of our five ports; disappointing. First time doing "free styling" and we like that after we understood what it meant. Because of the weather, outside tables wouldn't be used so dining was crowded. Communication from the captain was poor. Had we known of the port cancellations, we might have done things differently, such as spend time on our own in Copenhagen when we had to stay in port an extra day. Customers who were getting on at our second port were notified early of that cancellation and were given compensation help to get to another port for boarding. We didn't get notification until later. We also noted that the ferries to another port were running and wondered if we could have gone to the port ourselves while our ship stayed in dock because of weather.
The service crew members (waitstaff and stewards) were friendly and helpful. Entertainment was OK. Since the outside decks couldn't be used because of weather, inside places were scarce. The card room was tiny and people were using dining tables for playing cards, so dining became crowded. Sitting still in ports became boring.
The options for shore excursions were many and it was hard to choose. The two excursions that we were able to complete were fine.
Adequate. It was a waste of money to select a balcony room when the weather didn't allow its use. There were enough clothes hangers but they were the kind that one must unhook it from the part on the rod. Is there worry that we will steal the hangers? Just makes it hard to use.
