Norwegian Bliss Cruise Review by bostonphil
- Sail Date: September 2018
- Destination: Alaska
- Cabin Type: Studio Stateroom
The Bliss is a very large ship, almost too large. The elevators were a nightmare during what we call normal hours. There were times when I had trouble finding a place to sit in The Garden Cafe and could not get any machines in the exercise room. NCL built a very large ship with more staterooms but seemed to cut back on the public places.
The food in The Garden Cafe was excellent. I never ate anywhere else.
Entertainment was good even though I am not a fan of musicals.
It was cold and guests actually swam in the pool and got in the hot tub. There was no problem as there sometimes is when sailing in warmer weather. You could get in. I did not.
The scenery was magnificent -- really beautiful. The ports were all great. The weather was cool but mostly comfortable and dry except for the inside passage and Juneau, Then it was cold and wet and uncomfortable.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews
JuneauLots of confusion during debarkation for this cruise. Weather was cold and rainy. Very uncomfortable. Mendenhall Glacier was beautiful but was difficult to walk around in cold and wet. Visitor center uncomfortably crowded. Salmon Bake was disappointing. Lots of food but not tasty. Not well seasoned.View All 12,792 Juneau Cruise Port Reviews
I would recommend another shore excursion.

SeattleI spent four days in Seattle before sailing. Seattle is a very beautiful and interesting city with lots to do. Great walking. Great people watching. It is expensive. Food is very expensive,View All 822 Seattle Cruise Port Reviews

SkagwayI loved Skagway and the Yukon. We had rich fall colors. Weather was decent. Excursion was a little long but well worth it. Had a nice lunch at Spirit Lodge in the Yukon,View All 12,792 Skagway Cruise Port Reviews
This was a 6 hour motor coach excursion that I do not see on the list. It runs similar to the train but you stop and get on and off and get lunch.

VictoriaI screwed up and thought I\that I could do it on my own. It was a mistake. Victoria is beautiful.View All 1,283 Victoria Cruise Port Reviews
You can easily walk to Downtown and back within time allotted but I have leg and foot problems and could only walk to Fisherman's Wharf and back. And that was with a lot of pain. There is round trip shuttle service from the port to downtown and back but it costs $13 and the line was very long.
I had great fish and chips at the Wharf.
I wish that I had taken an excursion. Victoria is a beautiful place.
