Cabin: Aft-Facing Penthouse with Large Balcony

We chose this cruise because we were interested in visiting Croatia and Montenegro. We had been in Greece before but getting a day in Athens was still nice.

Ship: The Star is one of the oldest ships of the NCL fleet. Before we booked, we knew about the mechanical problems the ship had had in the past as well as were aware of the most recent dry dock period. All went well, so no complaints.

Buffet food: As other cruisers have mentioned, the hot buffet food tended to be not hot enough. More than once, we found that French fries were soggy and meats (especially those under heat lamps) were too dry. Surprisingly, La Cucina was substandard; Le Bistro was excellent as always, the churrascaria (Moderno) was great. Breakfast food was awesome.

Cabin Review

Aft-Facing Penthouse with Large Balcony

Cabin SF

Cabin: The Penthouse cabin (a first for us) we had was great. Almost like a small one-bedroom apartment with enough space to actually move around without bumping into furniture (or one another). Lots of storage space so none of our belongings (nor luggage) needed to be in the open. The cabin offered a balcony large enough for two lounge chairs, two chairs and two small (1 foot diameter) tables to set your drinks on. Being on the back of deck 10 on the Star had one disadvantage: the chairs closest to the railing got wet every morning because moisture (or rain) would run off the enclosed and angled deck 11. Regardless of this minor disadvantage, at the right price, we would book this type of cabin again.
