just returned from a 9 night cruise in the Baltics. it was supposed to be a trip of a life time visiting 5 ports including Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petersburg, Tallinn and Rostock(Warnemunde) Our captain told us due to bad weather we will not be visiting 3 out of the 5 ports. strangely enough we could travel to St Petersburg for the scheduled 2 day stop. might this be due to the money being made on the excursions or am I being cynical. We boarded at Copenhagen and were told we wouldn't be setting sail for Warnemunde due to bad weather, however passengers that were flying to Berlin to be transported to Warnemunde had been told several days in advance that they needed to go to Copenhagen instead. Commercial decision or health and safety issue? when we eventually arrived in Tallinn we were notified that due to the weather that we will be staying an extra night and Stockholm and Helsinki were now off the schedule. we sat in Dock with the external doors locked so you couldn't get on deck while other ships came and went on almost an hourly rate. we were told that gale force winds will hit us around 4am while we were travelling to St Petersburg. I was awake at 4am and it was very calm. Lies Lies and more Lies. You would expect the captain to tell his crew to be on their top game to calm the rumbling, sadly this wasn't the case. out off 9 nights meals, 3 were good service and the other 6 were awful. we complained 3 times and low and behold the following nights we got good service. The captain held a question and answer session in the theatre and was soundly booed. On the whole it was rubbish but there was some highlights, like St Petersburg, it is magnificient but don't give them your money go through local tour operators.
the lady that looked after us was lovely, very helpful and very efficient
