I'm writing this review to reflect our great experience once again with Celebrity. We flew to Ft. Lauderdale and boarded the Equinox with ease. Registration was over in 5 minutes, no more, and no waiting in lines. More importantly, no hassling with the porters at the port.(always a problem in the past over tips) The entire experience from boarding to disembarking was a pleasure. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a handicapped room which gave us more room to manoeuvre, especially in the bathroom. We did the nature-eco-hike in St. Thomas. It was pleasant and much easier than we were expecting. It ended with about an hour at a lovely beach. We didn't get off for long in St. Kitts, just a short walk at the port. It seemed to be an extension of shops already on the ship. We got off in Barbados...took the cruise bus to a beach where we spent the afternoon. The trip included a beachchair, umbrella and choice of beverage. On the beach we met fellow cruisers who saved the money and walked to the beach by themselves. They explained that they had been to the beach before and it wasn't a very long walk. We got off in St. Maarten, and walked to the stores in Philipsburg. Again just an extension of stores available on ship. We had already been to two beaches and had visited friends in St. Maarten in the past, so we went back to the ship and spent the rest of the day relaxing. The highlight of the cruise was the day spent in Dominica. We chose to take a cruise excursion called Nature, Cooking and Rum....or something like that. We've already done the Mediterranean, the Baltic and St. Petersburg, and so when I say that this excursion was the best of all that we've taken....I'm really going out there. A group of 25 of us took a minibus up to the private home of Michael, Daria and their cook Liz. The cooking course took place in a protected kitchen in their back yard, overlooking the ocean. No stainless steel, but lovely and clean. We jointly learned and cooked our own lunch, including deep-fried plantains, Caribbean tuna, vegetable salad,an ice-cold Pumpkin Rum drink, a papaya beverage and dessert. What a pleasure to meet Daria and Liz. The drive up to their home in the hills was at the same time both interesting and breathtaking, as the inclines were steep, roads narrow, and of course on the 'wrong' side of the road.... It was a day well spent. The entire menu arrived by e-mail, two days after we arrived back home, as promised. Dominica appears to be a laid-back island...no jousting, screaming etc on the pier by taxi drivers, tour guides etc....everything seemed very orderly. All in all a great cruise....and great weather.
