This was our first Norwegian cruise. The embarkation was really quick. The staff was excellent. We are plant-based eaters and were concerned about our diet selections on the cruise. We never had trouble finding fresh, flavourful items to eat whether in the dining rooms or the buffet.

The staff was so happy and engaging. While on shore we noticed staff members wearing their name tags while on their free-time. When we asked about this, they claimed they were proud to work for Norwegian and wanted to advertise this.

There are a lot of areas to sit outside on different decks whether in the sun or the shade. There were always chairs available near the pool and in the buffet. We never had to search for somewhere to sit. There is not a lot of selection for inside seating, especially if you want a quiet spot. This ship would be great in the Caribbean as the weather would be more conducive to sitting outside.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Large Balcony

Cabin M6

Pros:

We had this gigantic balcony with 2 loungers with table and 2 straight backs with a bigger table. It was an open balcony, so everyone could see us...but there was a lot of envy over the size. The room was a good size for three of us. We had 2 twins and an upper set up, so we could still use the couch. The shower was awesome. really big and 7 shower jets. The bathroom sink was long and room enough for 2 to work in there.

The closet space and shelves/cupboards was more than enough for three of us.

Cons:

This room is directly above the theater...there is a lot of noise when there is a show on.

Port Reviews

Halifax

Great walk along the boardwalk. Many restaurants to stop at. We walked up to the Citadel. There is a fee to go in. We visited the cemetery downtown. There is a market at the pier. There was a lot of pushing and shoving here. Very crowded.

Portland (Maine)

It was pouring rain all day. we were planning to rent bicycles at the bike rental container that is just to the left of the pier when you exit. There is a nice coffee place right across the street from here, so we went there instead for a great coffee and snack.

We walked back over to the railway museum and went on the train ride and saw nice views of the shore line. We walked around downtown. There are a lot of restaurants and shops to visit.
