Always wanted to see this area in the fall. Should have waited until October, no colors. Embarkation and disembarkation were great. The ship was clean, beautifully decorated and well appointed. Our cabin, a balcony on Deck 12, was laid out very well, the beds comfy, the bathroom a wonderful surprise (roomy and a great shower). The entertainment was top notch and by far the best we have ever seen at see. Service was perfect, the entire staff was welcoming and willing to go the extra mile to make our vacation the best it could be. Ports were what we expected, missed Bar Harbor due to weather, but the rest were great. Rain followed us the entire trip and made some of the excursions uncomfortable. We realize this wasn't NCL's fault and they did the best they could. The food was our only complaint. Food temperature was usually luke warm to cold. Sheehan's had the only consistantly hot food we received. We did not eat at any of the specialty dining options, and in talking to others felt the complimentary dining may have suffered because of the vast array of options. There were two of us and we might go again, but would go later in the season and might check out other lines options.

It poured all morning and we were not allowed to use our vouchers to board the Hop On/Hop Off bus at the port. Had to walk for 20 minutes in the rain to the Maritime Museum Kiosk (Stop #3) to exchange our voucher for a sticker. We got off at Fairview Cemetery and after the 20 minute tour (very informative and best stop on the tour) had to wait for over an hour for a bus. Then when we got back to the port stop (Stop #1) they made us get off and expected us to wait at the end of the line to complete our tour. So soaking wet and not happy we looked in a few shops and decided to cut our losses and head back to the ship. But found an empty bus waiting at Stop #1 and decided to finish the tour. Visited the Maritime Museum (well worth a visit), and by then the rain had lessened and we walked back to the ship.

An interesting tour, great driver and tour guide. started the day with a pedicab ride with Nathan. Asked for a breakfast suggestion. He asked if we wanted chain or local, we said good and local. He took us to Becky's Diner. The food was wonderful, homemade corned beef hash with big chunks of corned beef and buttery soft pancakes like my Grandma used to make. Best part of Portland.

Tour was interesting, although the guide really loved to hear his own voice. But there was enough information about St. John to make it tolerable. The stop at the cave offered a chance for a nice lunch and time to watch the tide come in. The stop at the market was also very nice.
