Cabin: Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2B

This was our 6th cruise on Infinity and our 33rd on Celebrity (66 total). We love the size of this ship but it is definitely in need of a refurbishment. Rusted railings, paint on glass balcony walls, etc. Balcony doors were hard to open and close on a number of the cabins. If you complained, they were promptly fixed. Food was mediocre (except for the hamburger grill), number of servers in bars was inadequate --they tried hard and were very pleasant but about 50% of the time we had to go to the bar ourselves to get a drink! Guess that is one way they make the drink package affordable for the company! Could not believe they ran out of club soda, and bud light early on in the cruise. They did pick up a few more eventually but the supply lasted less than two days! They also ran out of iceberg lettuce, romaine lettuce, escargot, bar chardonnay, etc. On a 15 day cruise with this many ports, I have trouble believing they could not have reprovisioned the ship at one of our stops -- We did miss Puenta arenas but that was followed up by a stop in Colon and Cartegena.(note : most of our cruises are 14 days)

The cruise staff as always was very personable and helpful. Great Captain;s club hostess. Entertainment was better than usual. December 63 vocal group was fantastic and the comedians were all very good.

Now for the stops if you like Mexican resorts that those two stops were great. For us, we never need to go back., In Guatemala, we took the trip to Cuidad Antigua, the old capitol city and it is a delight. Cartegena is a gorgeous Spanish colonial city but it was so hot we really were not able to enjoy it. Anyone thinking of taking this cruise in September, keep in mind that it may be incredibly hot!

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2B

Cabin 2B

It was a typical cabin, liked the new table(??) on the balcony but as noted the balcony door was hard to work and white paint on the glass balcony wall and chairs. Drawers in closet did not work well.

Port Reviews

Puerto Quetzal (Antigua)

This is a wonderful small city! We lucked out as it was independence day and there were parades, etc. The architecture is interesting, and overall a lovely city to wander through. Be aware that there are lots of street vendors selling all sorts of items--this year, shawls and beaded animals were the big thing!! Bargaining is expected and prices lower later in the day. It is at a higher elevation so the temps were much more comfortable. It is over an hour from the port so you need to either make prior arrangements or take a ships tour. We took a tour but were not impressed--the transportation was fine. Celebrity shore excursions needs to start insisting that tour guides have microphones on whispernet type systems.

Puerto Vallarta

Docked near a Walmart if you were missing something. Vendors portside were interesting if you wanted a souvenir or jewelry. Very hot so that is as far as we got.
