We had an enjoyable cruise on NCL Epic! This was our 4th NCL cruise and our 1st Mediteranean cruise.

We embarked in Barcelona having spent 2 nights here following a 10 day tour of Spain - another night in Barcelona would have been nice! We caught a taxi from our hotel to the port which was quite congested with cars, etc when we arrived around 1pm (there were 2 other large cruisers departing the same day). Our (pre-labelled) bags were taken immediately, outside the Cruise Terminal and we joined a fairly long queue to check-in. Everyone was cheerful in the Spanish sunshine and it moved along quite quickly. After hand luggage was xrayed we were straight on the ship - there was quite a few tempting shops inside the terminal, that we resisted! I found the Terminal here very efficient - no sitting and waiting.

Our stateroom (an aft balcony cabin) was very nice and I had no issue with the layout of the bathroom facilities being at the entrance to the room.

Balcony

Cabin BE

This was a Starboard Aft cabin with a decent sized balcony (double the depth of what we had on NCL Star and NCL Getaway). For this Mediteranean cruise Port side would have been better if you like to watch the goings on when docked. I read lots of complaints about the bathroom layout but it wasn't too bad. One in the shower and the other in the toilet (which has a good seal on the door

Port Reviews

Barcelona

We were staying in Barcelona for 2 nights prior to this cruise. From the cruise port a taxi would cost around €15- €18 to get into the city centre - Placa de Catalunya (they are very easy to catch just outside the terminal). From there you can do a Hop On Hop Off (€30 for all 3 routes) or just walk around at leisure - there is so much to see.
