We arrived in Honolulu 3 days before the cruise and were planning to leave 4 days later.
We Boarded the Pride of America in Honolulu without a problem. Our Balcony unit on the 9th deck was clean and the cabin attendant was responsive to our needs. There were 16 members in our group and dining was always a challenge as we were to be at the dining room at 5:30pm. For some of us that was lunch hour. The dining staff was excellent both in the Skyline and the two specialty dining rooms, Le Bistro and La Cucina.
The Shows were great and we had fun because of it. We went to Maui and Kauai. We sailed past the Napali Coast. We were not able to go to the scheduled Luau on Kauai because our schedule was changed. All who scheduled with Norwegian got their money back for the missed excursions. We were not able to disembark on the Island of Hawaii because of Hurricane Lane. When we got onboard Saturday afternoon the hurricane was a category 3 storm. It approached a category 5 storm when it decreased on Friday evening the 24th.The Hurricane was something that occupied many people's days. Where is it now, where are we, how close, will the water be rough? There were frequently crowds near the screens showing the storm and the ships positions plus predictions of the storms future path. The statement that soothed many was from the Captain, "You will not be able to tell anyone that you were in a Hurricane on a Norwegian Ship. It will not happen." And so we were not even close to the storm and it's effects. We were on the ship for eight days instead of seven. Hip Hip. One less day for me to cook.
Clean. Average size for Balcony unit.
