This was a 14 day cruise out of Bayonne, NJ. We paid about $2300 pp for a window cabin (#2002). (We scored pre-paid gratuities and a $350 onboard credit!) The up-charge for veranda cabins can vary from practically nil to nearly double the cost of a window cabin. This cruise trended toward the upper end so I opted for a the window. I figured it would be too cold to sit out anyway – I was wrong. We had unusually warm weather from day 3 through day 10.

Check-in - Easy. Buses park close to the terminal and cars pull right up like an airport. Porters took our luggage and I drove a hundred yards to a clean, modern garage. It's large enough that reservations are unnecessary. Cost is $20/day which includes all fees and taxes. By the time I locked the car and walked to the terminal, the luggage was on it's way and my wife was in line with our boarding passes. We were on board in 30 minutes but spent an hour waiting for the staterooms to be ready.

The Ship – Summit is seventeen years old. Her age is apparent in the design. Smaller flat-screen TVs are set into an angle cabinets that were obviously designed for a CRT. Separate restaurants were carved out of corners of the main dining rooms. She was clean and well maintained. On arrival, our cabin thermostat was stuck on freezing. I called the service desk and a tech arrived in 30 min. Another 30 min and the system was working normally. Good response.
