I booked this cruise a few weeks before sailing as en end of summer break. Sailing out of Miami, signing in and embarcation went quite well.
The ship is still looking quite well, though it's missing the hot tubs on the sun deck like on the Escape (that would have made it perfect!). Staff is pleasant and efficient and I never had to wait more than a minute or two at the bars.
Theatre shows were decent. The Million dollar Quartet show was fun and the Burn the floor show was quite intense. The Burn the floor dancers performance in the Main Dining Room was also impressive.
Speaking of dining room... this is where the Getaway sadly went a bit astray. Unlike other NCL ships I've been on, the main dining room food was a letdown. Food served cold, meat overcooked and stringy... it was just sad. Food in the Garden Cafe was better, but selection was limited and extremely repetitive with food in most stations being the same every day. Fortunately service in both the MDR and Garden Café was excellent.
My stateroom was once again a Solo Studio and was adequate. The stateroom attendant did a stellar job as usual and kept my stateroom just the way I like it.
The other slight letdown was the Solo Travellers Social. I think the Solo Host was doing his best, but he seemed to be stretched too thin with his other ship duties and had very little time for us. Other than the nightly meetups at the Sugarcane Bar and walking us to the dining room we saw very little of him. There were no ice breaking activities, no reserved seating in the theatre, no group parties, no info or communications in the Solo Lounge... (all things I was accustomed to as a solo traveller on the Escape).
The ports were fine and are all destinations I've visited many times before. Costa Maya and Belize had a bit of a problem with very smelly rotting Red Algae in some areas but otherwise all was fine. I Scuba dived in Cozumel, Costa Maya and Roatan and Snorkelled in Belize.
Standard solo Studio cabin. Carbon copy of the studios on other NCL ships and like me previous reviews of these cabins it was perfect. Basically just the right size for someone travelling alone.

Would give a 6th star if I could! Very well organised, small groups and pleasant and very enthusiastic dive master. Both dives were the absolute highlight of this trip.View All 125 Scuba Reviews
