A big problem is low water levels which isn't in Vikings control, but the choices they made didn't make for the best vacation. Late buses, locked bus bathrooms, ugly docking area, and no show shuttle to name a few. Add to that an assistant that lack awareness of senior pacing which is important since that is your cruisers, turn around and look lady, I shouldn't have to chase after her because others are lagging behind and becoming distressed. And, unless you leave someone in charge of the group, don't run off with part of the group and leave the rest behind even if shortly you intended to return. Add to that our cabin bathroom flooding twice, yuck. And, the more that went wrong, the more disgruntled folks became, lots of not happy folks. Because of cruise critics I expected some of low water issues and I was glad it wasn't as bad as it is now with problems on both ends and in the middle, but most folks on the cruise were surprised by the changes we had to make.
On a positive note, the scenery is amazing, towns are picture pretty, like a storybook. Both our cabin stewards were great. Marik the entertainment director was fantastic and hustled his butt trying to keep everyone happy. If you like fish, especially salmon you'll be in heaven! The entertainment they brought on board and Marik's were great, loved the opera and the glass blower.
I usually don't review, but after sooo many positive reviews I wanted to be sure you knew things aren't at their best right now.
They are small. The hull transmits a lot of noise from passing ship propellers, bumping lock walls, gushing lock water, engine starting and stopping, thrusters, ear plugs are helpful.
