Having cruised for the first time ever on Norwegian Epic last year in the Med we decided to try something different this year and hit the Caribbean. The choice came down to RCL, NCL, Princess or Celebrity, I figured we weren't really a Carnival family. Celebrity was an awesome choice, the ship was stunning, the crew friendly and none of the venues ever felt crowded or overly busy, even on sea days. Check-in at Miami was super smooth we dropped off the hire car at the Intercon Hotel at Bayside, a 10-minute cab ride we were at the side of the ship and onboard within 30 minutes of arriving, being in a Concierge cabin has its benefits. A slight hitch on day one, instead of waking up at sea en-route to San Juan we were tied up in port, in Nassau. A passenger had fallen ill overnight and the ship had to divert. Everything was dealt with smoothly, we would have a day in Nassau, tours would be refunded, no hassle. The rest of the cruise went off without a hitch: Cabin: C3 cabin on deck 10 very spacious with plenty of room for our son to join us. Certainly a larger cabin than Norwegian Epic with a more sensible bathroom arrangement, eg everything was inside the bathroom as opposed to spread around the cabin! Food: We dined in the main dining room every night, the food and the service were so good there was no reason to visit any of the supplementary restaurants. Entertainment: The Theatre was a great setting, while there was a great mix of shows from solo singers, comedians musicians but it would have been good to mix in the odd branded or West End/Broadway show to anchor the weeks entertainment with a real event to look forward to. The movies were good however, a nice prequal to dinner. Ports: Can't comment on San Juan, but St Thomas was lovely although the turtle snorkling trip was a bit on the short side, barely 30 mins in the water. Decided to take it easy in St Maarten, a $7 (per person return) water bus ride to the beach leaving straight from the port and $20 for 2 sunbeds on the beach with WiFi was a great way to relax. Spoke to others who'd paid $45 each for a beach trip at the Cruise Desk and basically did exactly the same trip we had made!! In summary: Althought only our 2nd cruise I would certainly try Celebrity again, worth every penny.

Fantastic ship with a fantastic crew

Cabin Review

Concierge Class
Cabin C3 1019
Very clean and spacious. The bathroom had loads of storage, a great shower and lovely toiletries.
The balcony had room for 2 reclining deck chairs and a table, perfect for evening sundowners.
The afternoon hors-d'oeuvres were nothing special if honest, barely a bite or a cube of jelly! The complimentary bottle of sparkling wine was lovely though.

  • St. Maarten
Organised our own trip to the beach, water bus $7 per person for an all-day ticket took us to the beach where we picked up some sun beds from a local bar for $20.
There is still a fair amount of damage left over from last years hurricane but as we only had a morning, we sailed at 4pm, it was a nice way to relax.

Very friendly and chatty crew on a well-maintained catamaran. Took around 45 mins to get to the island, my only complaint would be the limited time in the water, there were other boats coming in and out continually, not exactly a secluded cove!
