We chose this cruise as our 35 anniversary celebration and had always had wonderful cruises previously with Princess.
We did the 12 day United Kingdom with Kirkwall.
The ports were wonderful, we had no complaints with the itinerary at all.
The ship was a disappointment.
We hated the buffet set up.
Narrow hallways that blocked you view of what was available and you had to keep backtracking and searching for food because you missed it and couldn’t see where it was.
Top that off with mediocre food and it was a big disappointment.
The main dining room wasn’t much better.
The menu was slanted heavily towards seafood which is fine if you eat it my husband doesn’t.
The beef was usually tough and the soups were very salty. Otherwise the food was very under seasoned. I ordered chicken satay one night that was billed as spicy. It had no flavour at all let alone spicy.
The pizza restaurant Alfredo’s was great for food and wait staff the maitre’d was unreasonable and wouldn’t seat you where requested even if the place was half empty.
The Crown grill was excellent but I don’t think you should have to pay extra to get decent food on a very expensive cruise.
The entertainment was dull and uninteresting in the theatre, in the main atrium it was actually quite good.
The cabin was nice but we had researched how small the balcony cabins were and paid to get the larger well placed mini suite.
The bed was great and the curtains in the middle of the room to allow for the illusion of two rooms was good.
Theirs is what you’re paying for with the club class nothing else is worth it.
We were never offered the canapés in the afternoon, the spa bathroom soaps etc were useless. Bring your own shampoo, conditioner and soap. A dispenser in the shower with a combination shampoo/conditioner is not what I expected.
There is no benefit to the embarkation/disembarkation benifit at all, it amounted to nothing.
There was one extra item on the menu each night in the dining room that hardly qualifies as an ‘expanded menu’.
