I have traveled many times on cruise ships. However, this was my first time on NCL. I chose NCL because a group of friends were traveling on this ship to Bermuda. Before my trip I needed to get in touch with a representative of NCL and on both occasions it took over 40 minutes of being on hold before I reached someone. These two reps were very helpful, but who needs to be on hold for 40 minutes? I have pictures to document this since this is poor customer service. I wouldnt bring this up, but since I went on the cruise from Boston to Bermuda and all the things wrong with this trip, I needed to bring it up.
It makes sense that the cruise diverted to Nova Scotia and Maine when it was supposed to go to Bermuda and we shouldnt be put in harms way of a hurricane. However, no attention was given to the new itinerary and in fact the crew was cut and made for a dirty, unresponsive cruise experience. The ship had cups and dirty trays everywhere. The elevators where over run with guests. The restaurants; even the main dining had long waiting experiences. The staff at O'sheehans Bar was unresponsive and even rude. The Bimini pool bar and grill was closed most of the time causing overflow at other bars around the pool. There was no staff to take any drink orders around the pool, we even had someone approach us and take our drink order who was a guest. The gym was decent. The pool area for kids looked like something crafted / painted in a day by 2nd graders and belonged in the projects. Los Lobos, La Cucina and Cagney's were worth the extra $ for dinner. The cafe garden was over run, crowded, and you would have thought no one had eaten before and couldnt get enough. The guests were like hungry locus on a crop. The guests were angry, drunk and clearly not enjoying the new itinerary. The entertainment was decent. The casino was decent but the casino bar was horrible with long waiting times and I had to get my own drinks on a number of occasions while playing black jack; even after asking for service. The best bar on the ship was Gatsby's Bar. The wait staff was always available and very friendly. They kept their cool and they were servicing not only the Gatsby bar but the overflow from the horrible casino bar, La Cucina and Le Bistro and they did an amazing juggling act. Leila needs special mention since she seemed to be at that bar often and always with a great attitude and smile. The excursions were boring; really nothing to do however Bar Harbor Acadia park was nice; who needs more shopping and bars? I would never recommend this trip; if anything go to Alaska or anywhere else but there is nothing worth seeing on this adventure. I cant believe with the beverage package you can not get bottled water or that it doesnt include the minibar.
The balcony made the cabin bearable.It was clean. The shower and toilet area were very small, I dont know how anyone over 200lbs fits in the toilet area.
