I am an avid cruise traveler. I never expect much from the ships that offer 3/4 day cruises as they are typically the older, on-their-way-out ships. I have been on the Sky a few times now, but this was the first time I have boarded with the all inclusive alcohol feature. Though I am not the biggest drinker, I did find this to be nice. Unfortunately, I encountered extremely rude bartenders at every bar. I can only assume it is because they do not get the typical gratuity (I always tip when I buy). Asking for my drinks was like teeth pulling, the attitude and lack of attention was disappointing to say the least. I would have much rather paid for my booze and get better service than to deal with what I went through. This discouraged me from returning as often as I would have hoped but I guess I saved the calories.
As all cruise lines have little by little decreased the quality of their food in an effort to save money, the specialty restaurants are basically your only option for dinner now days because that is the only decent food you will find for the most part. Le Bistro service was excellent, I just wished they had a more extensive "French" menu. The food was not bad though. Walking to Le Bistro is kind of awkward as you have to walk through the main dining room and through the tight squeeze of the tables where other passengers are eating where you finally get to the entrance of Le Bistro, so that was not well thought out. Our second night we planned a dinner at Cagneys, the steakhouse. This was the best experience of the cruise as it relates to food options and service. Our service was so exceptional from the matradee to the waitress that we decided to reserve our last night dinner there as well.
Our room attendant was friendly, but the room was not very clean. The bedding was okay, but there was remnants of some gooey liquid or something on our walls. There was 4 or 5 large pieces of tape on our ceiling from something that was hanging from a prior cruise and the bathroom was just showing all kinds of ware from the slow draining shower, sink, and rusted caulking all around the door frame. The refrigerator that stores the overpriced water was not even functioning, so we were left to hydrate by walking across the ship to the nearest water source for a cold drink after hours.
Very small, no entertainment on TV, lighting is poor, some lighting does not work, bathroom is gross. Balcony is nice.
