We are frequent cruisers with Royal Caribbean. After this cruise, we are Diamond in their loyalty program. This was our second time on the Anthem. We chose this cruise because love sailing out of NJ (less than a 1.5 hour drive for us) and like the longer cruises. We had two connecting cabins - one for my husband and I and one for our 3 kids (11, 9, 9). Overall, we had a great time. We were able to book the shows and experiences we wanted beforehand. Our room was clean and well maintained and our room steward was wonderful. There were many activities. We particularly liked some of the non-standard trivia - word play games and such. Some island/excursion highlights included the trip we did on the Restless Native catamaran in Bermuda. It was a beautiful sail out to the cove and we loved swimming around, snorkeling, and cliff diving/jumping. We rented a bungalow in Labadee on Columbus Cove. That was money very well spent as it provided shade and a comfortable place for our family and kids to hang out. My only complaint is the timing of some of the night-time activities. We were at the late seating for dinner and had to miss many of the shows because they started during dinner or about a half hour before dinner.

Great time, one complaint

Great location for us as the Kid's Club was super close one deck down. Far from most food.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Catamaran Cruise
We did the Cruise for Cure (I believe it was called) on the Restless Native. There were two catamaran trips offered. We chose this one as the catamaran was smaller (fewer people) and a little less expensive. Both catamaran's ended up at the same cove. It looked like they also had a good trip. We enjoyed the sail out to the cove and all the activities while we were there. We snorkeled, swam, and jumped off a cliff.

  • Arawak Aqua Park
We enjoyed playing on the inflatable equipment very much. Unfortunately, there were jellyfish in the water which kept a lot of people out. The guides there explained that the large jellyfish wouldn't hurt us so we jumped in. Others in our excursion did get stung a bit from the smaller ones. The guides had spray that relieved the pinching feeling.

  • San Juan
We walked to El Morro and explored. We also brought kites for the kids (bought them at 5 Below beforehand) and flew them on the large grassy area.
