My Mom and I took this cruise together. So first and foremost, Cruise Director Matt O' (Matt O'Brien) is the best decision Princess ever made! He was spectacular - so full of energy and so funny - we tried our best to be at any/all activities he was hosting. Give that man a RAISE, Princess! Immediately!

As for the ship - beautiful. Atrium is lovely with its winding staircases. Fairly easy to navigate. The open deck where the pools are was pretty much empty throughout the cruise due to chilly weather, very nice nonetheless. One issue we had was with the giant movie screen....I get the idea of movies under the stars at night - great concept. But we walked through there in the morning some days and they were playing movies like Avengers and Doctor Strange at 10/11 in the morning.....and it's LOUD. Loud to the point if you wish to sit outside and have peace and quiet or maybe read a book, you'd be SOL. This was especially surprising due to the fact that approx 75% of the passengers were seniors.....who exactly were they trying to appeal to? Lose the super-Loud movies in general except for the movies under the stars.....Royal Princess is not a party ship and I would wager that most people would prefer to have the open deck be a peaceful place to relax.

Cabin: Nice, comfortable for two of us - we had two single beds and a sofa and a corner type balcony which had plenty of space, not that we used it all that often. We found the beds to be quite hard - we mentioned it to our steward who told us the mattresses were only a few months old, which we quietly doubted. One morning we came out of the cabin and our steward was there and asked, "did you notice?" To which we responded "notice what?" He took us back in our cabin and showed us a half-inch piece of flat foam on the mattress under the fitted sheet, which we had not noticed as it had made no difference. Though we appreciated the gesture, it was a bit like handing us a cocktail umbrella before walking through a Scottish downpour and then asking " did you notice? Did you notice how much drier you are?"
