We chose this cruise for a week of reasonably priced good food. We are both retired and do not "need" a vacation as a getaway. We are NCL gold members so this is not our first trip on NCL. We like freestyle cruising. We feel no desire to dress up to impress the waiters. We only ate at the Cafe (large buffet) and the selection (number of items) was great. My wife found a lot of the food to be cold, though. The ship was clean and NCL handled the large number of passengers, well. I liked the water slides, which were not crowded. NCL had adequate lounges, for sunning. The air conditioning was wonderful. The shower was adequately large and water pressure/temperature was good. We went after school had started so children was not an issue. The pools and hot tubs were packed unless it was a port day. People were shoulder to shoulder lining the edge of the pool with at least one drink in their hands. They whooped and hollered which probably meant that they were having fun. We felt like we were back on Carnival ship. All our other NCL ships were smaller and we both think smaller is the best direction for us. This NCL ship does not have a cover of the lido deck pool. Our current direction is Holland America since their dress code options are similar to NCL's and Holland America has a covered pool on most of their ships. We took two trips on the Rotterdam and are going on the Oosterdam in a couple months. "Vegas Style Shows" was a joke. We have seen better shows on other lines, RCCL, for example.

Too large and filled with heavy drinkers

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom
Cabin IX 12619
A/C rocked. Quiet. Shower was great. Beds were good. Storage was meager but adequate. IT DOES NOT HAVE A CHAIR or couch. It only has a stool and this sucks. The room is on a side hall so we missed the main aisle traffic. This was a "family" room as it was close to the kids area but we had no trouble with noise or traffic. We both hated the light switch requirement. You have to place your room key in a slot near the door to activate power in the room. This means that you can't have anything running or charging in your room when you leave. We were constantly shuffling our room keys as one of left or arrived. Fellow cruisers made fake cards to fool the switch but the room steward removed them, when found.
