We chose this 9 day cruise because we wanted to sail the Norwegian Fjords. We loved spending each day in a different port and then getting back on the ship at dinner time, sailing at night and getting into a new port early the next morning. Hotels and restaurants in Norway are really expensive and so it was great to come back to the Jade every evening and know that we didn’t have a hotel or food bill! The Norwegian Jade is a smaller boat and that was what we wanted. The staff was extremely service oriented and friendly. They all seemed to love thier job! The ship was immaculate! The only negative about the cruise was the food. We chose to upgrade 8 of our meals in the specialty restaurants. Moderno was horrible, Teppanyaki and La Cucina were fair. Cagneys and Le Bistro were hit or miss depending on the day and the meal ordered. Grand Pacific dining room is beautiful and the food was ok. The breakfast buffet was reasonable (you can’t really screw up breakfast and there was a good selection) but the main buffet for lunch and dinner was a dissapointment and most days the food was exactly the same.
We chose an aft balcony because we wanted amazing views of the fjord from 3 sides and it did not dissapoint! The room was an adequate size and we loved being able to pull the curtain in the morning to separate the sofa from the bed as my Husband is an early riser and could close the curtain and go out on the deck while I stayed asleep! The deck had two single chairs and a small table and we enjoyed coffe in the morning and afternoon drinks there. We had huge suitcases and they both fit easily under the bed for storage which left us plenty of room in the cabin.
Not much to see here
