Because the itinerary included mostly ports we had never been to and we really like Viking. The ship is so well layer out that many times I felt like we were on our own private yacht. It never felt crowded. Our cabin was lovely and had more than adequate storage space. The king size bed was very comfortable. The food was more than ample and very delicious. One of my favorite items was rare Ahi tuna served at the pool grill for lunch. That, some salad, and an included glass of wine made for a yummy lunch. The entertainment was average but good for a small ship. All of the staff was very friendly and many of them remembered our names. We enjoyed all the ports and found that most of the time the included excursions were adequate for a first visit to a port. Viking is for adults only which we prefer and we would definitely travel with Viking again. As a matter of fact, we have a river cruise and ocean cruise scheduled for 2019!

We walked around Kirkwall and toured the countryside. The highlight was a visit to a stone site older than Stonehenge.
