We chose this cruise because our backgrounds are Polish, German, Danish and Irish, so we would be able to visit some of the countries our ancestors came from Embarkation took only about 10 minutes. We enjoyed the port lectures in the theatre giving us an idea of the countries we would visit. Most of the tour guides on the buses were very knowledgeable, and having headsets was a great help in hearing everything they said. In our leisure time, we enjoyed relaxing on a lounge chair by the pool, the music was always so calming. We did not swim in the pool because the water was a little cooler than what we are used to in Florida. We also enjoyed listening to the guest piano player, and guitarist. Our favorite restaurant for dinner was The Restaurant--we enjoyed being waited on and they always tried to give us a table for 2 at the window. We ate in Manfredi's twice, and the food was excellent, however, it was quite noisy for our liking. The World Café also had so many choices to choose from, all delicious. I think we had gelato every day of the cruise! We never really had to wait on any lines for too long with anything we did. We loved that we could walk from one end of the ship to the other and not be tired out. The shows in the evening were all outstanding. Our cruise director, Brian Rodriquez led an interdenominational service on Sunday and sang the Our Father which blew everyone away with his phenomenal voice. He also had his own show one evening, and we couldn't believe the range of songs he performed. When all 600 of us returned on the train from Berlin, we were welcomed back with a reception by the crew & staff with a red carpet, champagne and music. It was the perfect ending for a perfect day. Service was excellent from everyone, and we were always greeted with a smile and nice salutation. Eventually they called us by our first names. All good things must come to an end, and we disembarked at 6 am, The Viking porter crew took care of our bags from the terminal all the way to check-in at the airport. We felt very safe and cared for. Thank you Viking for a wonderful trip!

Cabin Review

Cabin 4053
Our cabin was very comfortable and met all our needs. The bathroom was larger than I thought it would be, with a beautiful shower. The bed so very comfortable after a busy day of touring. Our stateroom steward got us some more hangers since we brought too many clothes. :) He kept our room spotless the entire cruise. Room service was always punctual. We even ate lunch on our balcony one day even though it was only in the 60's outside. It took us a while to find things on the TV, eventually it was all good.

  • Aalborg
We took the walking tour and had an excellent guide, Hanne. We especially enjoyed the "Live Viking" demonstration at the end, and we stopped at the John Bell Pub by the ship to sample some Danish beer & wine. We loved Aalborg!

Once again raining, we were glad to be on the bus. We made a couple of stops weather permitting, but got a good glimpse of Norway. Loved all the boats & ships. I think we were toured out by this time and jus wanted to get back on the Viking Star for lunch.

We were glad we booked the Panoramic bus tour since it was raining. We still saw quite a lot with only a couple of times off the bus & walking. Copenhagen was the birthplace of my grandfather, so it was near & dear to my heart to walk where he had walked many years ago.

Such beautiful part of Norway. We took the tour bus to the NatureCenter. Loved the goats on the roof top. Stopped in the gift shop. Just enjoyed the scenery and fresh air.

It was a sunny day and we first went to the Pipes, then the Lutheran Cathedral. By then a rest room break was needed, but we were discouraged not to use the church restroom. It was worth paying $1.50 to use it however, it was clean with no line.

  • Market Square
We had just a little time to shop at the Market Square. We asked our tour guide where the famous Cinnamon buns were and he pointed out the building to us. They were indeed delicious!

We enjoyed the 2 1/2 train ride very much seeing the countryside. We had an excellent tour guide, Rene, who kept on schedule with minimal walking. Lunch was included and was very delicious. Lots of rest room opportunities so no worries there. He even gave us some shopping time before going back to the train station.

We enjoyed the boat ride: although chilly out, they passed out warm blankets. I think we were late for it and it was cut a little shorter than normal, but it was still good.

Beautiful inside and out. The mosaics were amazing.

  • Russian Folk Dance
The Folk dancing & singing was so colorful and enjoyable. They left a little fact out of the brochure in that you have to walk up 82 steps to get up into the theatre, and the rest room was on the ground floor. At intermission another rest room was opened up on the upstairs level. What's another line?? I was glad I was able to navigate this, but felt bad for people using canes.

We had booked the included excursion, but since heavy rain was predictied during our afternoon tour, we decided to go out on our own in the morning. We saw the Cathedral, toured the Maritime Museum, and stopped in a souvenir shop. We felt we had seen enough.

  • Old Town of Tallinn
Our tour guide stayed too long in Upper town and talked too long about WW2. So, when we got to Lower tour, we were rushed through it, and by then lots of people had to use the rest room. We asked our tour guide (a woman) where the public restrooms were, and her response was there were none & we'd have to go searching in a restaurant & ask to use their facility. Fortunately, we found one who let us go and who didn't want any coins for it. We were going to stay and eat at a restaurant and take the shuttle back, but changed our minds because the Easy tour was really Moderate.
