We chose this cruise because we wanted to experience the majestic scenery along the Norwegian coastline but were treated to some unexpected delights in the Orkney and Shetland Islands.

We embarked at Greenwich, without luggage complements of our air carrier, but encountered a very helpful crew that went right to work getting our luggage located. Unfortunately, the carrier's mistake was serious and we didn't get our luggage for 10 days, but the Viking crew laundered our clothes daily without charge and provided a shipboard credit that allowed us to obtain some goodies.

Edinburgh was a bit of a disappointment as we only got to see the touristy Royal Mile area. The Orkney Islands were a special treat with neat restaurants and a fabulous walking excursion around neolithic standing stones (henges). Shetland too was marvelous with a boat ride and walking tour of Mousa Island and a 1000 year old Broch.
