We are loyal to Royal Caribbean and wanted to try a new ship and leave from our home state. Anthem of the Seas sailing from Bayonne met those requirements.
We travel with 14 friends and arrived at Cape Liberty as a group by private bus. Embarkation was crowded and a little frustrating. Everything done on IPads. Lines were disorganized. But considering crowds moved pretty quickly.
Ship was very different than we are use to (30+ Royal Caribbean cruises). Focus seems to be on technology....in customer service, in shows, in artwork. Not our cup of tea. The second focus seemed to be on getting you to spend on extras....from pushing specialty restaurants, to half the daily activities having a $ attached, to the cruise director's commercials..may we traveled with felt "nickled and dimed" to the max.
Our cabin was absolutely beautiful. Lots of storage. Good size shower. Immaculately clean. Amazing cabin steward.
While it is obstructed view, the obstruction was only if you looked straight down. The view as we sat out on balcony was breathtaking.
Walked to Cathedral of Immaculate Conception for Mass, then took leisurely stroll back to Cruiseport enjoying the town.
Easy walking town!
What a great town. Easy off ship to shops, park and trails. Ate at great bar Geddy's. Excellent NE fare and reasonable prices.
Stop in at the Rexall drug store (2-3 blocks from port) with authentic old time soda fountain. Vanilla Coke brought back wonderful childhood me,prices.
Nice port but should have done excursion. Not much to see just walking.
