We have been on Norwegian, Royal Carribean and Carnival; we decided for our Alaskan cruise, we would give Princess a try to have a new experience.

My father in law was eating in the buffet for breakfast, the third morning of the cruise and found a long black hair INSIDE his french toast batter. The hair was not on top of the food, but actually coked in the batter and the toast; he had to pull it out of his mouth.

Management recommended we eat at the dining rooms for breakfast and lunch to avoid this in the future; 2 days later, I found a short black hair BAKED into my fried/baked lobster in the Portifino dining room.

Cabin Review

Interior

Cabin IF

Our cabin was actually bigger than interior cabins that we have been in previously, which was nice.

The only issue with it was the bathrooms were dirty, distingustingly so. There was mold growing in the corner of the showers, under the sink, etc. The grout was black and grimey, and in some parts, even peeling up. It looked like the bathroom needed a good CLR and pressure washing or simply, removing the old grout and regrouting.

Port Reviews

Vancouver

Loved Vancouver. We did a 9 mile bike ride around Stanley Park and hiked the Lynn Canyon Park.

Ketchikan

We hiked a few trails, stumbled into the salmon fish hatcheries (free), a little park, totem pole museum, walked the town & saw all the salmon swimming in the river that runs through town. No need to do an excursion, if you are fine walking, you can see everything the excursions show you in town, for free.

Juneau

Bought the tram ride at the port which was $49 per person I believe. Beautiful view, but I wished, we would have hiked up the mountain. Same view, for free and once you get to the top, you can eat at teh only rstaurant up there, once you order food, they let you know you then get the tram ride down for free.

We hiked further up the mountain to the cross, which was about a mile hike, but beautiful view!

Skagway

We got off and rented road bikes off of 6th; $45 per person for the whole day.

Biked 20 miles to and from. Saw the city of Dyea, the Chilkhoot hiking trails, the river (harbor seals, horses, bald eagles, etc) Beautiful scenery and great photos.

Our parents did the excursion of the train ride for $45 and because the train doesnt stop didnt get good pictures (they had glares from the window and were blurry from the train moving). Whereas we spent all day, took breaks, met locals, and even were recommended to try a local brewery with Spruce Trees brewed in town.

Glacier Bay

Beuatiful experience, they had a ranger come on board and tell cruisers over PA the history of the glaciers.

The only bad part was the sanctuary was closed off unless you paid $60 for the day to view the glaciers in there.

There were blankets, lounge chairs, and it was enclosed from the wind.

They cruise staff picks up all other lounge chairs around the ship to tr to force you to pay for the sanctuary. No one paid or used it and the staff still refused to allow people to view glaciers in that area.

Whittier

Small town. Maybe 1 store.

We followed an excusrion bus to the national forest where we saw beautiful photo spots. We visited the visitor center (saved $80 for that excursion) where they told you about the parks, the town and different hiking trails.

If our parents weren't with us, we would have hiked up the Glacier Trail.

Ended up driving to the Alaska Conservation Center where we saw eagles, moose, elk, bears, bison, etc.
