We have sailed with Silversea six previous times. This time we wanted to experience the Muse (latest ship) as we explored the Mediterranean and Adriatic coasts. Our trip included back to back cruises starting in Rome on August 12th and ending in Monte Carlo on August 29th. Both segments were at capacity with approximately 600 guests, yet, there was never a crowd, as the ship seems to allow ample areas for guests to visit and enjoy music, relaxation, food, drink and socializing. At times, we wondered where everyone was! The new ship has amazing and elegant decor throughout, and the service is stellar, as with our prior cruises with Silversea.

The expanded dining venues were part of what made the ship less crowded. All were excellent, however, booking your dining reservations in advance seems essential as some people had trouble getting reservations at some of the busy venues, although some venues do not require reservations. We found that arriving at these about 7:30 seemed to make it easy to get a seat. The Silversea online system allows guests to make reservations for dining in advance, and adjust onboard if needed which we highly recommend. We enjoyed the menus at the new Indochine restaurant, the Silver Note, Atlantide, loved getting pizza from Spaccanapoli, and my husband loved the ice cream bar they offered throughout the day and evening. Room service is really helpful on mornings when we had an early morning tour scheduled.

The ports and shore excursions were varied and enjoyable. I do miss the previous Silversea Signature options which are now replaced by custom tours by a private car. We chose a variety of types of tours, from highlights of the port town by coach, to Segway tours and off road experiences. One of my favorites was a trip to a Preserve used by Tito to host world leaders and my husband enjoyed a bike ride that was scheduled at the same time. The tours typically have small groups from 12 to 24 in size.

Cabin Review

Classic Verandah Suite

Cabin CV

The Muse suites are larger than the other ships, and the increased storage areas are really appreciated. Our cabin was on the 5th deck which was perfect. I dislike long corridors on ships and try to select an area that has fewer rooms on the corridor, mid ship and on a lower deck, which typically offers smoother sailing. There was an elevator just a few doors from our suite and the Dolce Vita Lounge was located near our room, where we went for pre dinner drinks and entertainment. The row of drawers in the desk allowed my husband to put his folded clothes there and mine were in the closet, so we were not having to take turns getting ready.
