  3. Norwegian Getaway
We chose this cruise because we had previously cruised on the Norwegian Escape and it was an excellent cruise and the ship was amazing. Comparing our cruise on the Escape to the Getaway....well there is no comparison except for the ship itself being almost the same, with the Getaway being an older ship. The food on the Escape was fabulous, especially Cagney's steak house which we had dined at twice on the Escape, but Cagney's on the Getaway was not good and the service was awful. The best restaurant was on the Getaway was LaCucina, which was of superior quality with generous portions and our server, Xavier was wonderful. We also dined at Moderno, which is a Brazilian style meat fest of average quality, but the salad bar was fantastic with a great variety to choose from. The 3 complimentary dining rooms all have the same menu with a good variety of selections, but the food was of average or below average quality, with most of the food being served barely above room temperature. The buffet is the only dining choice for breakfast after 9 a.m. and the overcrowded seating areas with repetitive selections in the different locations, made for a stressful and unrelaxing time, not to mention the food was below par. We ate at the buffet only one evening and it was disgusting, which included the quality and selections. The only dining choice for late night is the O'Sheas and it also was pretty nasty food with just a few selections available which included a Reubin sandwich (mostly fat and sliced way too thick and served soggy) with stale potato chips, a Sheperd's pie, fajitas, a hot dog, grilled cheese sandwich, chicken wings, served greasy, rubbery and cold or an overcooked dried out hockey puck hamburger. The French Fries were good if you could get them to give you fresh hot ones. The two shows we watched were excellent, Burning down the Floor was a high energy Latin themed dance show and the Million Dollar Quartet was Fabulous and featured 4 impersonators and the story of a momentous day at Sun Records...don't miss this show. As far as the ship goes, it was just OK, nothing special. They do need to pay more attention when cleaning the common areas, especially the restrooms which I often found to be needing attention. When we arrived in our cabin, we had to have the housekeeper come back in to clean the mirrors and vacuum the carpeting as there were remnants of the last occupants in most areas of the room. The casino is fun and loud and keeps a good crown going until about 2-3 a.m. Being a poker player, it was not fun having to wait sometimes over 2 hours for a seat at the only table on the ship, and the dealers all seemed to have a different set of poker rules depending upon who was dealing and who the pit boss was at the time, which made no sense. Based upon all of these issues and my overall experience on this cruise I would have to rate this cruise a 2 out of 10 and would certainly not repeat cruising on this ship.... and would have to think long and hard before trying another Norwegian cruise. I am taking another cruise in 4 weeks, but thankfully I did not book it on Norwegian.

Not so much!

Cabin Review

Family Inside Stateroom
Cabin I1 9447
Small room but good use of space. When we arrived in our room, we noticed it had not been cleaned very well and had to ask housekeeping to come back in to vacuum and clean the mirrors.
