Cabin: Aft-facing Balcony Stateroom

We chose this cruise to fulfill a lifetime dream of seeing Alaska. We feel like we did not even see Alaska. The Bliss is a ship meant for cruising in warm weather. Pools and slides and outdoor spaces are abundant. But much of our trip was raining and cold, so all of the 4000 passengers were crammed inside. Norwegian knows that this ship is not geared for Alaska and they book it to the max anyway. I anticipated up charges, but Norwegian takes it to a new level. The food was sub-par at best. Even the “specialty dinning” was average or below. DO NOT book an aft cabin. The smoke and soot from the engines blows directly on the balcony and makes sitting outside impossible. Grime and soot coat the the chairs and railing. The shore excursions were either cancelled or overbooked. And the remaining time in each port was spent fighting crowds from the 5 other cruise ships that docked to get into shops owned by the cruise line. My husband and I kept saying “never again”. Guest services was condescending and rude. I am stopping now
