The reason we chose this cruise was the fact that the company we booked through offered a stay and cruise deal for Rome and a 7 day Med cruise to destination sthat were all new to us. It was also very well priced.

We hadn't cruised before so did lots of research into costs etc to ensure that we didn't get any nasty shocks.

On which point - we would reccommend that you buy a drink deal in advance, to simplify things. It worked well for us - we don't drink much alcohol but did drink a lot of soft drinks and water. Purchasing water in the morning or the night before for the day out, saved us the trouble and money whilst out and about. There was also plenty of choice of drinks on the all inclusive drinks deal - unless you want posh cocktails or expensive wine - which we don't.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B1

We had a balcony cabin, which was nice - the only real niggle being the small shower and that the mini bar drinks were not included in the drink deal.

The view was very slightly obscured by the lifeboats but not so much as to be an issue.

The bed was large and very comforable, with the choice of pillows being an added bonus. Never been offerred a pillow menu before.

For me, more storage would have been nice, but I always pack too much.

Port Reviews

La Spezia (Cinque Terre)

We wanted to see both Pisa and Firense so rather than risk missing the ship we thought an excursion was safer.

The tour guide was excellent, friendly and knowledgable.

The stop in Pisa was only brief but since we only really wanted to see the tower and nearby areas, that was fine for us. If you wanted to go up the tower or inside any of the building you would probably have been struggling time wise.

Firense (florence to us Brits) was gorgeous. We had a whole afternoon which was just long enough to get a good flavour of th eplace and to decide we need to retur to explore in more depth.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We actually had a three night stay before the cruise so go to see all the most important things in Rome that we wanted to.

Fabulous City spoilt only by the constant nagging street sellers the worse being in the Vatican City.

Genoa

Nice city but a bit of a shame that the old city has not been maintained as well as it could be. Fun and quirky mix of old and new, traditional and modern.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

I had never considered a visit to Palma and was pleasantly surprised to find a tryuely beautiful city.

Lots of fabulous architecture, lovely churches, cathedral and medieval history.

Another destination to erturn to to explore better.

Barcelona

Have wanted to visit Baecelona for some time and one day is only enoufgh to run round and try to see as much as possible.

For all the hype about Sagrada Familia I actually preferred the traditioal cathedral and would hav eliked time to go inside.

There was no time to see anywhere near everything and plan a short break here before too long.

Corsica (Ajaccio)

Not to our taste. If you like beaches and expensive shops then Ok... but we were pleased it was only a short stop.
