First cruise. I went with my BFF and her daughter and friend for graduation. Embarkation went smoothly. Highly recommend upgrading to the Faster to the Fun (limited number per sailing). I found this by accident in shore excursions vs. travel agent telling us about it. Takes you to the front of the line for most things; lifesaver on disembarkation day. We were not feeling well by the last day so getting off the ship quickly was very well appreciated by all. The ship was clean. Our cabin was clean and ready at 1:30. On day 2 we realized that our cabin was affecting our allergies/sinus to the point it was hard to get a deep breath. We did ok while up on deck (outside). We dined in the buffet, dining room, Guy's Burger, Cantina and all were outstanding! There's so much to do that we were not able to cram it all in. We weren't feeling great so we ran out of steam early. The shows that we did see were amazing and very entertaining. Other than our room making us sick, we had rough seas on the last day and as newbies it was disconcerting. I wish the staff had taken the time to reassure us all was ok. Made me a little queasy but never got sick. Was ready to disembark for sure. Communication was an issue for us. While most of the staff speak excellent English, some not so much. I had to ask several times for repeats and often just couldn't understand. Not sure if I will take another cruise at this point. At the time, I really thought this is awesome. After getting sick and feeling miserable due to the room (other passengers complained of the same symptoms) I'm not sure I would spend that much money for a maybe vacay.
We asked for the filter to be cleaned since we were having such a hard time with allergies/sinus (we took meds the entire trip) and our steward said he would submit a report for maintenance. We never heard anything from it. The room was clean. No visual signs of dirt, hair, mold, etc. The air filter in the ceiling was hanging with dust and there was no way to clean it without a screwdriver. Can't prove that was what had us unable to get a deep breath but pretty sure that or unseen mold/mildew was the culprit. Cabin steward was attentive except a few times we had to get ice from room service.
