I am an experienced cruiser. I have taken RCCL, Norwegian, and Princess. I am Gold with Carnival. This would be my 6th Cruise with Carnival. We are a group of 30-celebrating a rare feat these days-my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We were all excited to be boarding the brand new Horizon. We did have hesitation due in part to the negative reviews we have read but we all went with an open mind and a discerning mind. I truly am disappointed in Carnival for the ship's layout, the lack of attention to the customer's needs, the poor design of the ship, and the relatively high cost to sail a very short and less detailed itinerary. Yes, I understand that I chose this ship and it only affirms my belief that I was going to have the "vacation of a lifetime" as it is so proudly promised and advertised by the Carnival Corporation. Before I get into specifics, let me just reiterate why Carnival should be ashamed of themselves. A less than appetizing Lido Buffet, very small and not practical pools, a very small Serenity area with no pool, lack of security presence, lack of safety precautions, no attention to the size of a lounge or showroom for a ship holding more than 5,000 passengers and a debarkation system which was hard to comprehend. Now I will go into more detail-listing the pro's of the ship first because there were positives.
PROS-
-The embark was quite possibly the best I have ever experienced on a cruise. We arrived to the port short of 1230 pm with a 130 embark and were on ship at 1pm-less than 30 minute process. Congrats to that staff.
over priced. dirty beach.
