My sister and I traveled with our mother, who uses a specialized wheelchair full-time. We booked this cruise less than 1 month prior to sailing when a HC cabin suddenly become available.
Our drive to the port was just over an hour in Sunday morning traffic (approximately 65 miles). Embarkation was smooth & very fast and we had lunch at Sushi on 5 in order to avoid crowds at the buffet. The rooms were available at the expected time and we were pleasantly surprised by its size - by far the largest wheelchair accessible cabin we have ever booked. It is all the way forward and thus, not an ideal location for those prone to motion sickness (me) but we knew that when we booked it. Fortunately, it was only an issue on the first night. Our cabin steward was efficient and we only had to make our requests once (extra hangers, ice every evening, extra towels). No towel animals (for those of you like this), but we did not miss them.
We had Select Dining and pre-cruise had made 6:30 reservations for every evening. The first night was quite chaotic with long lines outside the dining room regardless of whether or not you had a reservation, and we were not seated until 7:30. Our waiter (Edic) and assistant waiter (Kelvin) were superb and very attentive. We did not have to wait on any of the subsequent 4 evenings. We ate lunch in the dining room twice and other days used the buffet (the stir fry station was our favorite), the poolside grill, or AquaSpa Cafe. Food is very subjective and I will not make any specific comments, but we always found something to eat which satisfied us. We had room service breakfast once and it arrived at the expected time and our scrambled eggs were warm.
Very spacious cabin with ample storage space for 3 people with 6 suitcases, a large wheelchair, and rented medical equipment (hospital bed & patient loft). Despite having the hospital bed, we were able to keep both ship beds in the room and no one had to use the pullout sofa bed! Large hallway area in front and to side of the cabin allowed for wasy maneuvering in and out of the room.
