It was a week ago today, that we said good-bye to our NCL Getaway ship. We are still talking about how wonderful it was, so let me share some of those reasons.

Why did we choose this ship and itinerary? Where the ship went did not matter to us, as 1) we live in the Caribbean (St. Croix, US Virgin Islands) and 2) we were on the NCL Dawn a few years ago with many of the same ports. What my DH and I were looking for was a cruise experience, where we could enjoy the ship’s amenities and enjoy a peaceful vacation. As September is peak Hurricane season for us, we needed the Getaway!

If you are looking for a review of beaches, do not read any further. But if you are curious about NCL Getaway, let me tell you about some of our highlights!

Cabin Review

Oceanview Stateroom with Large Picture Window

Cabin OX

This was a handicapped cabin that we were assigned after placing a bid. The cabin was spacious with way more storage than we have experienced on other NCL ships. Our porthole window was a good size. Bathroom was also larger. Best sleep!

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

DH took this excursion. He was glad he went, but was not totally impressed.

Harvest Caye

We went on the electric boat ride that is offered by NCL. It offered free Wi-Fi and rum punch. I asked to see manatees and the Captain delivered--6-8 surfaced for air next to the boat! Boat trip was probably an hour at the most.

Roatan

In all of our years of cruising, this is the first port where the staff from the bars and the tour operators came out and waved bye-bye to us. That was so nice!

Miami

Enjoyed our hotel, the Hilton Blue Lagoon.
