Really enjoyed this short cruise from Barcelona to Venice as Part of a longer holiday in Spain and Italy. Had a balcony cabin on deck 7 which had been recently refurbished and was very nice comparing well with our Aqua Class cabin on Eclipse the previous year. The cabin steward was friendly and helpful as were all the crew we encountered. Having been spoilt by the Blu restaurant we did find the MDR a bit overwhelming but really enjoyed eating from the buffet in the Sunset Bar for several nights instead. We had a lovely meal in Tuscan and would go there again but didn’t really get the concept in Quisine so would probably not bother with that on future cruises. We enjoyed most of the ports we called at on this cruise except Genoa as it was a Monday and most of the tourist attractions were closed. The info on the ship didn’t make you aware of that so after a very hot walk standing at the entrance of things we could have visited on a different day we took the open top bus tour and then got back on the boat! We did the Vatican Behind the Scenes Tour run by Celebrity which was very good but included a meal in a hotel near by. Unfortunately we were not impressed with the, quality of the food or service which was slow and wasted an hour of our short time in the city. We were left feeling we had paid a lot of money for something that we could have got far cheaper and better by finding somewhere ourselves. Neither was it a traditional Italian meal in a local restaurant that celebrity suggests you will get. Overall though this was another great cruise and we would use celebrity again

Great second cruise with Celebrity

Called on a Monday and found most historical visitor attractions are closed all day. This wasn’t clear in the info supplied in the daily ship news paper. We were quite disappointed by this and ended up doing a short open top bus tour and getting back on the ship.

Tour itself very was good with a very knowledgeable guide who was also thoughtful about the impact of the heat on everyone in the party. It was very busy but we expected that and it was an experience we are glad we didn’t miss.
At the end of the Vatican tour we were taken to a gift shop just on the edge of St Peters Square and left for about 40 mins which was totally unnecessary and many in the party felt this had been wasted time as most were not interested in the stuff in this shop sold at inflated prices. The tour was then supposed to include a lunch at a typical Italian restaurant which turned out to be a poor quality meal at a corporate hotel round the corner from the Vatican. The service was also very slow which probably wasted another hour of our time in the city.
After this the coach took us to another area with shops and restaurants which was fine and it would have been better to take us there straight away and to have found our own place to eat.
Glad we did the tour but would not book a future tour including food with celebrity as we felt we paid a lot of money for a very poor quality lunch.
