Cabin 14158 is a Spa Mini Suite. The spa rooms are located on Deck 14 near the forward stairwell providing fast access to the Thermal Suite on Deck 15. It is a regular mini suite room with a large bathroom. We always get a mini suite on Breakaway-class ships for the oversized waterfall shower with jets. Since the room is a spa room, it comes with Bvlgari amenities used in the Haven suites (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, slippers). While bigger than the Breakaway, the balconies on the Getaway are still tiny with barely enough space for 2 chairs and a very small table.

This was a great beach day. You take a 30-45 minute mini-bus ride over to the beach. Lots of loungers. You can pick a spot in the sun or under the shade of palm trees. There are resort security personnel assigned to each section of seating and they stay with you and help you throughout the day. The bar staff are constantly cycling through the beach areas and you can always get a drink (no-host). The beach was nice, soft sand and just off shore, there was some great reef areas for great snorkeling. If you rent their equipment, their guides will provide you training and take you out over the reef. There are lifeguards in kayaks in the water, so you feel very safe in the water.

We made this a beach day. The island has limited shade. There are some palm trees and there are complimentary umbrellas, but as the sun moves, so does the shade - to the next door loungers. We elected to get a clamshell so that we could control the amount of sun we got. It is a man made beach with crushed coral sand, so it is coarse and not very nice. We swam out in the ocean and in the large fresh water pool (with swim-up bar). It was a fun beach day.

Harvest Caye

Costa Maya – Catamaran Cruise and Snorkel. This was a great snorkel excursion. The crew, dressed in pirate outfits, were great! The catamaran was “o.k.”, there was a forward net to sit on and there was free soda and beer (after snorkeling). The crew divided the group in to beginners, intermediate, and advanced snorkelers. For the beginners, they really took a lot of time and effort to make sure everyone had a great and safe experience. For the advanced group, they guide moved the group over the maximum amount of reef and then turned us loose at the end. The reef was beautiful with lots of tropical fish. There was a lot of Saragossa seaweed at point (common in the area).

Three Reef Snorkel by Boat. Another highly recommended shore excursion. The crew did another excellent job at making this a great snorkel experience. At each snorkel location, the guide would get in the water and check the direction of the current, then position the boat so that we could drift with the current. At then end of each snorkel, the guide would call in the boat to pick us up (you never have to swim against the current to get back to an anchored boat like on other excursions). The first reef was shallow and you were up close and personal with beautiful coral and sea life. The second reef was in some very fast moving currents. You just drift with the current over medium depth reef. The third reef was in about 45 feet of water. A wonderful experience with larger fish, but you are in deep water. Free soda and beer (after the last reef) and snacks.

The beach was nice, soft sand and just off shore, there was some great reef areas for great snorkeling.Great cruise-ship humor and the early show was family appropriate.
