Adventure of the Seas Cruise Review by Cruise a holic
- Sail Date: August 2018
- Destination: Bahamas
- Cabin Type: Owner's Suite - 1 Bedroom
The ship was in recent dry dock and some of the public areas were upgraded. Compared to the Oasis class ships, small and missing some of the "bells and whistles". The ship has three specialty restaurants. Izumi, Chops and Giovanni's table. Also a Johnny Rockets. We enjoyed Chops, Giovanni's and Johnny Rockets. Since we had an unlimited dining plan, we ate nightly either in Chops or Giovanni's. We were in a suite, but this ship didn't have a suite dining room. You could have a cooked to order breakfast daily in Giovanni's if you were in a suite.
We were in an owners suite. It was very nice and comfortable. Our cabin attendant Johnnychan was excellent. The cabin had relatively new carpet and the couch was redone- but things like the bathroom mirror needed re-silvering- so not everything in the cabin was updated. However we had plenty of storage and the bed was comfortable. We were under the pool and one night we were awakened by loud noise- sounded like they were using a power saw from about 2:00 AM for about one hour. That was horrible, we reported it and it never happened again. Another issue was that three of the public elevators were not working during most of the cruise. I had read before that this apparently is an ongoing problem and not permanently fixed. Hopefully it will be soon.
We saw a few of the shows and they were entertaining, especially a very funny comedian on I believe the third night. We skipped the ice show on this cruise- but heard it was very good.
We enjoyed the specialty dining- and didn't try the MDR. Service overall was excellent. The bar server in the adult lounge Migel remebered our names and what we liked to drink. The suite concierge, Sucel, was also excellent as she contacted us prior to the cruise and helped with any special requests. Had a wash and blow style at the salon and the hairdresser did a very good job.
We stayed on the ship in Orlando as we have been to Disney and the other sights many times and just wanted to enjoy the amenities of the ship. We really enjoyed CocoCay and had a nice Cabana. They served a very good barbecue lunch also. We also enjoyed Nassau. We orginally had a beach day scheduled- but cancelled. 5 Ships were in that day and the port was mobbed. We decided to walk around the town then back on board to enjoy the ship.
The ship had the usual activities including Trivia and the Love and Marriage Game. Also the Belly flop competition and other similar events. We loved Boleros for dancing and easy music listening. They ship also had some evening parties. Also the Schooner bar a funny piano player he was great. The cruise director Hello Clo was great- she is talented and funny. The ship had many kids on it and they seemed to really enjoy the camp. Shops had the usual assortment of jewelry and souvenirs. We didn't use the casino as it was extremely smoky. That is a great reason to sail on Celebrity as they do not allow smoking in the Casino. They also sold and had the "art" auctions- not our thing. The photographers were very good and the staff friendly. Wifi service was fair- but sometimes slow.
We felt that the service was first rate on this ship- Might consider sailing on her again- but perhaps when the ship is less crowded and school is in. If we aren't sailing with kids-
