The Baltic has always been of interest and the Viking cruise was perfect for us. We started with the extension in Reykjavik because that is where we met and got married over 40 years ago. It was wonderful to visit again!
This was our first Viking ocean cruise after having taken some of their river cruises. We were pleasantly surprised that the larger ship was not overwhelming. Our cabin and amenities were wonderful and we always appreciate the included beverages, free wifi, and included excursions. We also had access to laundering facilities and did our laundry when it wasn't too crowded.
The ship has a variety of entertainment options, but we were usually too tired in the evenings to take advantage of the shows. We generally watched the port briefings on the in cabin tv. We enjoyed the Chef's Table dinners very much and our reservations were perfect-- early in the evening. The other dining options were fine for our tastes too-- some nights we ate in the dining room, other nights we went to the dining area on the pool deck.
The cabin was light and airy, but the blackout curtains were a necessity with the "Midnight Sun" hours of daylight! We did not have a sliding door out to the veranda due to a structural beam as others cabins did, but the glass door was manageable. The bathroom was roomy enough and we had plenty of space for our clothes. Extra hangers were available. The in-room fridge was replenished daily and the coffee machine was welcomed. The sofa, chair, and coffee table were nice additions to the room.
