Having previously sailed on Viking Ocean, Celebrity and other lines, I had great expectations of Riviera, however it didn't meet my expectations on multiple levels. Firstly the good: Food in all restaurants (except Red Ginger) was of a very high quality and the wait staff both food and wine were exceptional (again other than Red Ginger). The not so good: There are very few cozy corners on this ship (other than the library) and really nowhere inside with aircon where you can watch the world go by. The Grand Bar/Lounge and Martinis are on the lifeboat deck so you cant see the ocean and curtains/blinds are always drawn. Horizons at the front of the ship is a large cavernous area with a dance floor and is blocked every afternoon for high tea. I am used to Celebrity and Viking Ocean which have loads of spaces where one can get out of your cabin, still have aircon and watch the world, Riveria does not have this kind of ambience. Cabin: 10091 Concierge Level.A Okay cabin with the tiniest shower I have ever had a cruise ship. The worst thing about this cabin was its location next to the Butlers Lift and Pantry (complete with Ice making machine which started at 5am every morning) Absolutely terrible not only with the ice making noise but the constant banging of butlers trolleys. I complained whilst on board but was told nothing could be done, they turned the ice making machine off but that only lasted two morning before it was switched back on and the noise started again. Very poor value for the most expensive category of Verandah Cabin on this ship - Concierge Level A I don't understand the Concierge Level on Oceania its a very poor cousin to what is offered on Celebrity - no special service other than a bottle of house champagne on arrival.
