We started with a two day pre cruise extension in London offered by Viking. The hotel was centrally located in Westminster, close to the Abby, Buckingham Palace and the London Eye. The hotel was nice, the included breakfast was okay. We were picked up by bus and taken to the ship in Greenwich. This included a tour on the way to the ship with a guide. Embarkment was a breeze even though we had to tender. It did take longer than usual for our luggage to arrive and when it did we got it one bag at a time over several hours. This was our second cruise on the Viking Sea and just as on our other cruise the food was excellent at all the restaurants. We really enjoy the Chief's Table with the wine paring and unusual food. I have tried food there I never would have thought to put together and it has all been good. We also enjoy Mamsems for breakfast. It is always quiet there and the view is the best. The only draw back to breakfast there is the menu is very limited. The service at all the restaurants is great. The servers really try to get to know you and your food and drink preferences. We picked this cruise because of the ports of call. This is not the usual Europe cruise with lots of cities, churches and museums. This cruise is closer to an Alaskan cruise with beautiful scenery and lots of activity. On most of our shore excursions we either hiked or kayaked. Viking did offer all levels of shore excursions from easy to demanding. We usually chose the demanding and some were really demanding, others not so much. We ended our cruise with a post extension trip to Oslo by way of the Bergen Rail also offered through Viking. The rail trip was nice (however the Alaskan rail is much nicer and more scenic). The hotel we stayed at in Oslo was right next to the rail station and again centrally located. This hotel was not attractive and the beds were very uncomfortable. The included breakfast however was really good. The viking host that accompanied us on the train was very helpful and knowledgable. The Viking host at the hotel was not. Overall we had an excellent trip and can't wait to do go on another Viking Cruise.

Cabin Review

Beautiful and functional cabin with plenty of room for storing all of our clothes. Can't say enough good about our cabin stewards. Our cabin was always extremely clean and they quickly learned our usual schedule and were able to clean our room when were out.

Port Reviews

Kirkwall

Cliff walk to Skara Brae. The walk was beautiful and the ruins were very interesting

Molde

Waterfall hike was beautiful. It was steep uphill to get there but well worth the climb.
